Sapa has been becoming a major tourist destination of North Vietnam, a natural starting point for the unique experiences in the mountainous area, which includes the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Indochina's highest peak of Fansipan (3143m) and 5 different hill-tribes, each one colorful, distinct, and with its own language and cultural values. Some of the villages, especially the more remote ones, are still largely untouched by modern ways of life.
The main attraction Sapa is to visit the hill tribe’s villages. There are many unique opportunity to experience the hidden trails, breathtaking sceneries, unmixed culture and way of life…but without the availability of basic accommodation, you can either sleeping in local houses, or in tents outside the village. Here began our idea of building the ecolodge.
Topas Ecolodge is now the only one of its kind in Vietnam. It has a perfect location - situated atop two cone formed hills, set deep in the spectacular Sapa valley of Northern Vietnam.
Topas Ecolodge is based on ecological principles. We have implemented a wastewater facility to avoid pollution of the local area. All this is designed to ensure that the Lodge has a minimum impact on the surrounding environment. We employ local people and use local products and goods, in order to bring economic benefits to the local community.
Topas Ecolodge is situated in the perfect location at two cone-shaped hills set deep in the spectacular Sapa valley of Northern Vietnam.
The ecolodge consists of 25 individual lodges placed in a circle around the hills. From the lodge there are breathtaking views across the scenic valleys below, which are home to villages of the Tay and Red Dao minorities.
Our restaurant and reception will provide the services needed to satisfy 50 guests at a time. In the Thai stilt house restaurant we offer meals three times a day.
Topas Ecolodge has been constructed by local builders, skilled architects and experienced trades-people. Staffing the Lodge with local people offers them opportunities for employment throughout the year.
At Topas Ecolodge we want every guest to have the perfect surroundings for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Whether you prefer the quiet life of the lodge or wish to join more active pursuits such as trekking, bicycling in the local area - we'll have something for you.
Topas Ecolodge is the only one of its kind in Vietnam, offering accommodation to individuals as well as to larger groups of families, friends or colleagues.
Accessibility
Topas Ecolodge provides daily transportation according to schedule from Sapa to the Ecolodge. It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Sapa to the Ecolodge. Despite the fact that some parts are dirt road it is an interesting journey. On the way you will see daily life in the rice fields, minorities on their way to Sapa to sell handcrafts, vegetables, the picturesque view of Muong Hoa valley and more.
The bungalows
All the 25 mountain lodges are built as rustic chalet-style single bedroom houses from local white granite. Each bungalow presents a casual style with a private balcony, from there you can enjoy the magnificent view of the towering peaks and enless valleys dotted with ethnic minorities’ villages. A perfect place for your relaxing from the noisy and busy city life.
Our accommondations consist of 17 deluxe bungalows, and 8 executive bungalows.

Restaurant
The restaurant is an old traditional Tay stilt house. It was carefully moved piece by piece from its original site and reassembled at the lodge with more equipment to meet modern standards while respecting its original and historical qualities. All the meals are served in the lodge’s restaurant. The food is served either as a set menu or buffet. It’s all Vietnamese food cooked and served by minority people from the surrounding villages.
